Our Founder

Katie Motta

With expertise spanning global sustainability consulting to inclusive partnership and procurement strategy development, Katie founded Shift Circular to solve at the intersections of sustainability and economic inclusion.   

Her work in the circular space has ranged from plastic collection and upcycling strategies for social enterprises to resource recovery from waste analysis and design.  It is informed by over a decade of non-profit experience advising large corporations across all sectors on the business case and implementation strategies for inclusive procurement.   The partnerships and programs she developed delivered results:   over 10 years, corporate and government partners spent more than $2 billion with Indigenous and minority certified suppliers.   This is complemented by an understanding of the technical complexities of circularity based on global climate advisory and environmental process design consulting primarily to the manufacturing, metals and mining sectors.  

Katie holds a Graduate Diploma in Social Innovation from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University.
